Curriculum

The classroom is a safe environment where a student learns to trust, respect his or her self and others, and become an independent thinker. Through various themes, children are exposed to music, art, math, science, language arts and dramatic play. Activities incorporated into the learning process encourage cooperative learning, critical thinking, and problem solving.

The beginning of the day is spent in whole group where children listen to and tell stories, sing songs, play games, read books, and do calendar activities. Then students discuss the current theme with the teacher. All children participate by raising questions that are addressed in the unit. In these settings, students have some opportunities for multi-age and multi-level interaction. The students have the opportunity to encourage each other at different levels without pressure, only support.

Children are also able to experience small group interactions through daily learning centers. A student is able to choose which of the various learning centers to experiment and explore during this time. The various centers include art, building, dramatic play, math, science, reading, listening and writing. The teacher facilitates and challenges the students by modeling activities.

The combination of the Pythagoras Chidren's Academy teachers and this curriculum produce enthusiastic, well-prepared graduates each year. We encourage you to see it for yourself by contacting us and making an appointment to observe our classes.
